Hal Boyd


Hal Boyd studied art at the University of Nebraska and the University of Mississippi and earned a baccalaureate degree from Ole Miss, where his teachers included major American sculptor David Smith and abstract expressionist painter Jack Tworkov. Hal’s work has been included in numerous juried exhibitions, and he has exhibited widely. Venues include the following: Asheville Gallery of Art, Asheville, North Carolina; The Biltmore Estate, Asheville, North Carolina; Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis, Tennessee; Creative 101, Brevard, North Carolina; Forum Gallery, New York City, New York; Laguna Gloria Art Museum, Austin, Texas; Lulu’s, Spartanburg, South Carolina; Mary Praytor Gallery, Greenville, South Carolina; Roane County Arts and Humanities Council, Spencer, West Virginia; San Antonio Art Institute, San Antonio, Texas; Transylvania County Arts Council, Brevard, North Carolina; and Tryon Fine Arts Center Gallery, Tryon, North Carolina. Hal’s painting, “Bride and Groom,” was featured on the front cover of the March 5-11, 1999, issue of This Week of Western North Carolina. In 2000, at the invitation of Tryon Fine Arts Center Gallery, Hal mounted a one-man show of forty works.
